今回は、フォスター作曲「夢路より」（英題: Beautiful Dreamer)を取り上げます。

この歌は小学校だったか、中学の音楽の時間に教わりました。

当時は意味が分かるようで、分からないような文語の詩を美しいと感じました。

ここで文法解説です。

「業(わざ)も今は　終わりぬ」の「終わりぬ」は「終わった」という意味です。

「ぬ」という完了の助動詞が使われています。

「朝日受けて輝う」の箇所の「輝う」は「輝く」のウ音便です。

また、「夢路より　帰り来よ」の「帰り来よ」は「かえり　こよ」と読み、「帰って来なさい」という命令の意味です。

文語で「来（く）」の命令形は「こ」もしくは「こよ」となります。
